LUNCH AT OVINO MARKET

When I want a sandwich I go to Ovino Market. While I’ve enjoyed plenty of hearty American sandwiches with mile-high toppings in my life, I much prefer an Ovino, European style sandwich with just bread, meat, cheese, and spread. There’s no wilted lettuce or soggy tomatoes overpowering the good stuff, just delicious, high-quality meat and cheese. The owners, Stefan and Erika, are the nicest folks and they serve every sandwich on local, fresh bread with a side of pickles and olives and a mini brownie. Yes, please!

I’ve literally had every sandwich on the menu and you really can’t go wrong. But I’d never had Erika’s goulasch soup (only available in the winter), so I stopped by for soup and ½ sandwich and was very happy I did. The German goulasch was chocked full of cubed beef and potatoes, and spiced with paprika and chilies. The spicy salami and swiss sandwich with house made roasted red pepper spread was the perfect complement. I also took home my family’s favorite sandwich, the coppa, for my husband.

While I usually take my sandwiches to go, they’ve added some nice indoor and outdoor seating if you want to relax. Once the weather gets warmer they will start up their outdoor beer garden too. Come on Summer!
